Over the past few months, there has been a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes at ZooEasy. Since 1 May, we have become part of VHLGenetics, a significant step that will enable us to further strengthen and expand our services. Despite these changes, we have maintained our focus on innovation and development, and this is paying off.
Great interest in the Club Breeding Regulations module (VFR in Dutch)
One of the most requested additions at the moment is the CBR module. This allows clubs to automatically check litters that have been bred or are to be bred against the Club Breeding Regulations. We have now analysed more than 80 different CBR rules. The content of these varies greatly from one club to another. To make the module usable for all our customers, we are working on a set of general, overarching rules. Examples include rules such as:
- Both parent animals must be free from condition X
- A combination of result xyz and result xyz is not permitted, but xyz and abc is
By generalising the specific rules, we can make the module widely applicable.
Complex development
Developing this functionality is a complex process. Every general rule must first be precisely specified before it can be built and tested. A large part of these specifications has now been finalised, and we have begun the internal testing phase. This testing phase consists of two parts:
- The introduction of different types of CBR rules
- Checking whether the software applies these rules correctly when assessing a pairing
We expect to complete this initial test phase in November.
User testing and release
Following the internal testing, we will move on to user testing. A number of members of our focus group will then be the first to gain access to the module so they can test it in a test environment. We are currently drawing up a user guide to provide proper support for this phase.
If the feedback from this user test is positive, the module will be rolled out to all customers in stages. We hope to make the CBR module available to all customers in the first half of 2026.
Wondering whether this module could work for your club too? Feel free to get in touch with us!
